About

I’m a preacher by day, and I do some other kinds of work as well. What I have always loved is good food and good writing. You might get either here, sometimes its a flop. You’ll want to read my first post if you really want to know why some nobody amateur cook in suburbia started another blog about food.

Alysheba happens to be the name of a famous race horse. I suppose the horse is long dead. I know very little about racing horses except the jockeys are usually small and the horses very large. But they named my street Alysheba, and I think its a cool name. Mysterious, even, sort of like one of Edmund Dantes’ alter-identities. My kitchen is not really mine either, it belongs to my whole family, but its my blog so I get to name things.

My love of food is all twisted together with my love of the gifts of God. Among the beauties of a glorious life are wonderful paintings, a wife’s warm hand, stories that carry the mind away, the smell of a book, high-quality goods like they don’t make any more, and a simmering pot of fresh-made tomato sauce. My writing gets wordy and sometimes melodramatic, according to some. I know. I try not to be cheesy. But that’s one of the reasons I bother to write – to improve. Mainly so I can preach better and craft words that communicate well. And of course, I wish to share what I love with you. So, here’s to a blog that makes a year before it withers dormant. I hope not…

Welcome! And click my links peppered through the text… they are sometimes really wonderful rabbit trails!
